We are pleased to share latest publication from Jim Reeder's doctoral research. The paper describes a qualitative study with parent carers and health professionals investigating factors influencing the empowerment of parent carers of disabled children. This research is grounded in the fact that supporting parent carers to have greater agency and control over the decisions and actions regarding the care of their child is a central tenet of contemporary health and social care policy. The resulting analysis is illustrated by a conceptual model representing a complex system contextual factors that influence parent carer empowerment, with the focus on the dynamic interaction between service providers and parent carers.
