PhD student celebrates winning award and new publication

One of our postgraduate research students Jim Reeder showcased his doctoral research at the National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) Academy Conference recently, where his poster won the People’s Choice Award! Jim is a Senior Physiotherapist and was awarded a NIHR Doctoral Clinical and Practitioner Academic Fellowship to pursue a PhD.

Working in partnership with several parent carer partners from the PenCRU Family Faculty, Jim’s programme of research is exploring innovative ways to empower parent carers of children with neurodisability. The first stage of his doctoral research was a comprehensive scoping review of existing interventions for parent carers. The scoping review has recently been published in leading childhood disability research journal Developmental Medicine and Child Neurology.

The interactive database cataloguing and describing 145 programmes aiming to empower parent carers in some way can be access here https://eppi.ioe.ac.uk/eppi-vis/Review/Index/762
